Making a Comeback

In 2023, a pitching injury forced me off the mound, but it opened a new door. As I healed, I found myself studying mechanics, helping teammates, and realizing how much I loved teaching the game. Coaching became my new passion—turning a setback into a purpose I’m grateful for every day.

It took me out of the game at a time when I felt my mechanics, confidence, and command were finally coming together. Since then, I’ve been on a long, steady climb to get back to the pitcher I was—if not better. Every day, I’m still practicing, still rebuilding, and still chasing the level I know I’m capable of reaching.

Some days feel just like the old times, when the ball jumps out of my hand and my body moves the way it should. Other days remind me how far I still have to go. But I’ve learned to appreciate both. Each rep, each drill, each throwing session is a chance to sharpen something—my timing, my strength, my mental approach. I’m more intentional now, more aware of my body, and more committed to doing things the right way instead of the fast way. What’s surprised me most is how much I’ve grown through the process. The injury pushed me to study the game deeper, to understand mechanics on a level I never had to before, and to translate that knowledge into coaching others. I’m still grinding, still improving, still pushing. And every day, I feel myself getting closer to who I was—and who I want to become.
